Personal Life
For those who don’t know, Vijay Shankar is actually 32 years old as of April 2025 because he was born back on 26 January 1991 in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Not a lot of people know this, but his family had a cricket background too, like his father and his brother, who have already played club cricket for Tamil Nadu.
Talking about his personal life, well, he recently got married in 2021 to Vaishali Visweswaran. And from this marriage, they have a baby boy too, though his name isn’t disclosed publicly yet. Professional Life and IPL Career
Sure, Vijay Shankar has already made his debut for Indian in ODI and T20 formats, and he has gotten a few chances to play for India, but since his performance was kinda decent, he isn’t getting too many chances these days. Like, the IPL 2018 and 2019 went kinda good for him, and that’s why he made his debut in the T20 format back in 2018 and in the ODI format in early 2019.
Talking about his IPL story, well, it has been 11 years since he has been playing in this tournament year after year. There were a few decent seasons for him here and there, though, playing for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 was one of the best seasons for him so far because he scored 301 runs in that season and that too with a strike rate of 160.11. It was actually in IPL 2024 that we saw him with CSK, and in IPL 2025 as well, he is once again part of the CSK team, though he has gotten a few chances already, but his performance kinda has been decent so far.
