Sure, Kabaddi is a fun contact sport from India, but once the popularity of this sport started to grow, countries like Uganda also started showing great interest in it, and it was just back in 2017 when they started playing this sport officially. By the end of 2019, we already saw the origin of KFU, aka Kabaddi Federation of Uganda, which is now behind the Uganda Kabaddi League. For those who don’t know yet, the first-ever season of the Uganda Kabaddi League was played back in 2022, and that’s when a lot of people down there in Uganda started showing huge interest in this sport, and it is now a huge event there.
The Uganda Kabaddi League Actually Is Divided Into Two Parts
Yes, Kabaddi is a male as well as a female sport down there in Uganda. Like, if we talk about the starting season, there were a total of 60 matches for the Men’s Uganda Kabaddi League. And all this action lasted about 20 days, so there were matches literally every single day. You may already know about the top teams like Jakana Super Bullets and Shaks, right? Well, now, there are as many as 8 to 10 teams taking part in this league every single year. For example, for the Men’s Uganda Kabaddi League 2023, there were 10 teams in total.
Compared to the team size, yes, the women’s side is a little less thrilling because there are only teams that took part in the first season. These teams were: Kkungu KC, The Eaglets KC, The Hustlers KC, Titanic KC, and Angles KC. In that first-ever season, they played 13 matches in total.
What’s This Points Table Thingy?
Well, if you’re new to Kabaddi as a sport, then you may not know that there is also a points table used to see which team is performing well in the tournament. With the Uganda Kabaddi League 2022, though, we saw that when a team won, it got 5 points, when the match was a tie, they got 1 point each, and when a team lost, it got 0 points. Plain and simple!
Let’s say you’re someone who just started watching the Uganda Kabaddi League, and now you want to know which teams performed super well in 2022, aka the first-ever season. So, for that, all you need to do is just look at the points table of that season, and that’ll give you a good idea. Here:
