Petra Kvitova Set to Return to Tennis After Maternity Break

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is poised to make her much-anticipated return to professional tennis this month, following a 15-month maternity hiatus. The 34-year-old Czech star, who gave birth to her son, Petr, in July 2024, has announced plans to participate in three upcoming tournaments in the United States.

Kvitova’s comeback will commence at the WTA 250 tournament in Austin, Texas, scheduled from February 24 to March 2. She will then compete in two prestigious WTA 1000 events: the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the Miami Open.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Kvitova shared in a video on Instagram, “I really miss tennis and miss competing, so I’m really looking forward to being back. I can’t wait to see my fans all around the world. Thank you very much for supporting me. It will be a nice journey, and I can’t wait.”

Before her maternity break, Kvitova last competed in October 2023 and secured titles in Miami and Berlin that year. Her return adds to the growing list of tennis professionals resuming their careers post-motherhood, highlighting the evolving dynamics of athletes balancing personal and professional commitments.
