Personal Life
KL Rahul was born on 18 April 1992 in Mangalore, Karnataka. His father was a professor and is mother was a history teacher. But cricket? That was Rahul’s true calling from a very young age. He started playing very seriously during his teenage years and moved to Bangalore to train at the National Cricket Academy.
In January 2023 KL Rahul got married to Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty and their wedding made a lot of headlines. The couple blessed with a baby girl on 24th March 2025.
Professional Life
Rahul made his test debut in December 2014 against Australia. Even though he had a rough start he smashed a century in just his second match. Later he made his ODI and T20 debut in 2016 and from there was no looking back. You know what makes Rahul so special is his versatility. He has done everything for the teams or whatever captains asked him to do. He has opened in all 3 formats, batted in middle over and kept wickets even captained India. He is not a loud player, but his bat always does the talking.
IPL Career
In the last few years Rahul has actually become one of the most consistent batters in the IPL. Ever since he made his debut back in 2013 in RCB, he kept growing season after season. After the first season he moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad and played there for 2 years (2014 and 15), then came back to RCB in 2016. Sadly he missed 2017 season due to injury. But after that his rise was incredible. From 2018 to 20121 he was the star player for Punjab kings and not just that he even became their captain in 2020.
Later on, IPL 2022 he was picked by a new team called LSG. And right from the start he became their captain too. Now talking about IPL 2025 he has joined his 5th IPL team Delhi capitals. He was picked for a huge RS14 crore in the auction. That’s a big deal right?
When it comes to performance, KL Rahul has always been one of the solid batters of IPL. In 2020 he won orange cap by scoring 670 runs.
